El Corte Inglés Shopify Integration — sync orders, inventory and pricing
Spain's largest department-store group, running a Mirakl-powered marketplace on elcorteingles.es across fashion, electronics, home, beauty and gourmet. Sellintu keeps your Shopify catalogue, offers, stock and orders aligned with it.
Key Features
- •Catalogue, offer and order synchronisation from Shopify
- •Category and attribute mapping with per-marketplace overrides
- •Real-time price and inventory updates
- •Order import, shipment tracking and invoice (PDF) upload
- •Returns, refunds and message-centre handling
El Corte Inglés runs its marketplace on Mirakl, so selling there means meeting a per-category attribute schema rather than simply pushing a Shopify product feed. Each category sets its own required fields and its own validation rules, and for attributes such as colour, material and gender it accepts only values from El Corte Inglés's own lists — free-text Shopify data is refused rather than coerced. Onboarding is account-managed: your category template is reviewed before the first catalogue is loaded manually into Mirakl, and offers are then created against a referencia genérica your account manager provides. From that point Sellintu applies the mapping on every export, so casing, number formats and taxonomy values are corrected on the way out instead of being edited product by product in Shopify. Two conditions run continuously rather than being checked at export: your price may not exceed what you charge on other channels, and stock has to stay accurate, because orders cancelled for unavailable stock count against your internal seller score.
Setup requirements
- A Mirakl seller account with API access
- El Corte Inglés runs on Mirakl, so you need an account on its seller portal with permission to open the API settings, where the key is generated. Generating a new key immediately invalidates the previous one.
- A category template signed off by your account manager
- El Corte Inglés assigns you an account manager, and the category template is reviewed by them before anything is loaded. The first catalogue upload into Mirakl is done manually against the approved template, not pushed straight from an integration.
- A referencia genérica for your offers
- Offers are created against a referencia genérica rather than against your own product references. Your account manager tells you which one applies to your catalogue, so it has to be in hand before the first offer is published.
- One El Corte Inglés category per product
- The catalogue is organised into numbered categories, and each carries its own required attributes and its own validation rules. Products are mapped to a category first; everything the export demands follows from that choice, so rules that hold in one category will not necessarily hold in another.
- Attribute values taken from the marketplace lists
- Colour, material, gender and similar attributes accept only values from El Corte Inglés's own lists. Shopify options, tags and metafields are mapped onto those values in the transform rather than sent as free text.
- A valid EAN on every variant
- Each variant needs an 8- to 14-digit EAN or GTIN. Internal SKUs, shortened references and codes carrying separators are rejected at export.
- Product images on a white background
- El Corte Inglés requires the product to sit on a plain white background. Images are also fetched from their URL, so they must be publicly reachable JPG or PNG files, and filenames carrying spaces or accented characters fail to resolve.
- Spanish product content, in Title Case
- Titles and descriptions are shown to Spanish shoppers, so es-ES content is expected. Titles capitalise the first letter of each word, and should carry the gender where the category has one plus at least one distinguishing attribute of the product.
- Price parity with your other channels
- Your El Corte Inglés price may not be higher than the price you charge elsewhere. This is a commercial condition rather than an export check, so a breach passes validation and surfaces later.
- Stock accurate at all times
- El Corte Inglés scores sellers internally, and orders cancelled for unavailable stock damage that score. Because the score affects how you are treated on the platform, stock accuracy matters more here than on marketplaces that only measure dispatch time.
Common errors
- Brand is not uppercase
- El Corte Inglés stores brand names in capitals, so an offer whose brand reads 'Nike' rather than 'NIKE' is refused at export. Apply an uppercase transform to the Shopify vendor field in the mapping, so the casing is corrected on the way out instead of being edited on every product.
- Title is rejected or sent back for rework
- Titles must capitalise the first letter of each word, carry the gender where the category has one and include at least one distinguishing attribute. A full stop anywhere in the title, or a title containing a URL, is refused outright. Build the title in the mapping from brand, product type, gender and a key attribute rather than passing the Shopify title through — 'Anillo De Plata Mujer Circonita' rather than 'anillo de plata'. Strip full stops entirely; the check rejects them anywhere in the string, not just at the end.
- EAN is not 8 to 14 digits
- The barcode is exported as it is stored, so values carrying spaces, hyphens or a leading apostrophe from a spreadsheet import fail the numeric check. Strip non-digits in the transform, then confirm the length: EAN-8, EAN-13 and GTIN-14 all pass, while a 7-digit internal reference does not.
- Price does not carry exactly two decimals
- Shopify returns prices such as 19.9 or 20, while El Corte Inglés requires a fixed two-decimal format. Format the price to two decimals in the transform — 19.90, 20.00 — and make sure no thousands separator is included.
- Price is higher than on your other channels
- El Corte Inglés requires parity: an offer priced above what you charge elsewhere breaches the commercial terms even though it passes every format check, so nothing in the export flags it. Derive the El Corte Inglés price from the same Shopify source as your other channels rather than maintaining a separate price list by hand, and re-check it after any promotion that moves prices on one channel only.
- Image is rejected
- The product must sit on a plain white background. Images are also fetched from their URL, so anything other than a .jpg or .png fails, as does a filename containing a space or an accented character such as ñ. Mask or re-shoot the product onto white before uploading, and rename the file — 'anillo niña.jpg' becomes 'anillo-nina.jpg'. Renaming the product in Shopify does not change the CDN URL; the asset has to be re-uploaded.
- Model code is longer than 15 characters
- The model field is length-capped, and values derived from long Shopify SKUs or product handles overflow it. Map a shorter source field, or truncate in the transform — but keep the result stable between exports, because it identifies the product on subsequent updates.
- Marketplace product ID does not match the required pattern
- El Corte Inglés expects a fixed prefix followed by the reference it assigns you and your own SKU, and the whole value has to fit inside 28 characters. Build the ID in the mapping rather than storing it in Shopify, and shorten long SKUs first — the prefix and assigned reference consume part of the limit before your SKU is added.
- Attribute value is not in the allowed list
- Colour, material and gender accept only values from El Corte Inglés's lists, and those lists differ by category, so free-text Shopify values such as 'navy' or 'rose gold' are refused. Map each Shopify value to the closest allowed option for that category, and set a fallback for anything unmatched so a single unmapped product does not stop the whole batch.
- Orders cancelled for unavailable stock
- Cancellations count against the internal seller score, and the usual cause is a stock level that drifted between marketplaces rather than a genuine stockout. Sync stock continuously rather than on a schedule, and hold a buffer on lines you also sell elsewhere so a simultaneous sale on another channel does not oversell the El Corte Inglés offer.
